Laura Nagaran-McCarthy
Laura Nagaran-McCarthy is a mixed-media artist who grew up in San Diego, California, and now lives and creates in Phoenix, Arizona. She earned her BFA from Northern Arizona University.
Drawn to bold color, texture, and experimentation, Laura works with watercolor, ink, acrylic, collage, washi tape, fibers, and other mixed media. Her work moves between abstraction and figurative imagery, exploring emotion, identity, memory, and the layers of our inner lives.
Music often finds its way into her creative process, inspiring everything from a single piece to an entire series. Working intuitively, Laura transforms personal experiences, thoughts, and emotions into visual stories—inviting viewers to find their own meanings and connections within the work.
