Paper Scissors Death by Joanna Campbell Slan

I finally got my hands on a copy of Paper Scissors Death by Joanna Campbell Slan. Ms. Slan had suggested I read her book after reading post I did on another author. It is a “scrap-n-craft” mystery. Though out the book, you get information on scrapbooking or actual projects to try. What I enjoyed about this book was that each project or tip was at the end of the chapter it appeared in with detail. She does a wonderful job of breaking down the steps. Another pro is that general tips, such as paper crafting with groups, and memorial album ideas are timeless. These tips are good for years to come. One con was that some of the actual techniques are dated (the book was first published in 2008) and scrapbooking techniques are like the fashion runways – here today, gone tomorrow. Although with some imagination, I think they can still be used now and look fresh. Another thing I liked was the story line. Although I guessed who murdered Kiki’s husband right off the bat, I enjoyed the way the plot unfolded to confirm my suspicion. Depending on your reading speed, and I am a quick reader, I read this book in three hours. I was so intrigued that I did not want to put it down and read it straight through. I am looking forward to the next Kiki Lowenstein mystery that I can get my hands on.
