Vogue – The Power Issue

I meant to blog about Vogue, oh, a couple months ago when I first picked up the magazine at the store. It’s the Power Issue and it is huge – like an inch thick! I admit, I picked it up because it had Lady Gaga on it and I was curious. Also because of the 574 pages of spring fashion it boosted. And the dang thing was only $4.99 – what a bargain! So, I threw the March 2011 edition in with my dinner items.

I will admit, I have not looked at a Vogue in years, maybe even a decade or more. I have to say that it inspired my inner shoe goddess – although my husband is probably not happy with that. I sat down and read. Cover to cover, read. I thoroughly enjoyed the articles. One article was about a woman who was raised in a cult, another about battles with food, another about Syria’s first lady. I loved being given a glimpse into someone else’s world that is so different from mine. The struggles they have faced. The joys they have seen. It makes me want to follow those goals that are in my heart and that I have the courage inside of me to take those steps. Because my life is pretty easy compared to what they have been through or the responsibilities that they have. They followed their heart, their dreams. So, I can do it too.
