A Way to Save Your Child’s Awards

As my daughter was cleaning her room yesterday, she showed me her some of her 2nd grade valentines she had received. She then promptly announced she was going to pin all of them on her bedroom wall. Uhhh, I don’t think so, imaging all the holes, was the first thing I thought. I quickly said to her, why don’t I scrapbook them for you. Thank goodness she thought that would be a good idea.

Being that these are valentines, I really did not want to put much time into scrapbooking them. So, I found some cute patterned 12″ x 12″ glitter paper that I had left over from another project. Punched out two corner holders from matching paper for her favorite card. The most work was on the title. For that it was just printing out the title, coloring it in, ripping and inking the edges. Quick and simple. I laid everything out at angles for a fun young look.

I also had a perfect attendance certificate of my son’s that he also wanted to keep. Another extra 12″ x 12″ piece of patterned cardstock became my background, with left over scraps in the upper left to give some dimension and a metal photo holder. Done with one happy child, and much better than it being taped to his bedroom door.

The best things are that my kids are happy, I didn’t spend any extra money – I used supplies I already had, and it took less than 1/2 hour to do the 3 pages. Not every page has to be a fancy masterpiece to be special.
