A Full Stomach & Thoughts on Talent

I have a thought that I have been chewing on for a few days. And now that I’ve had my late night fix of tacos and cheddar bacon wedges, I’m ready to go. Seriously, I don’t think I could have gotten out what I was thinking with a growling stomach. Back on the 7th, I tweeted out a quotes, which of course, went to my Facebook page. I didn’t get many responses, but it was interesting to me, because of their interpretation of the quote.

Everyone has talent. What is rare is the courage to follow the talent to the dark place where it leads. —Erica Jong

Of course, people don’t want to “go to the dark side”. One musically talented person I know said he hoped he wasn’t going to the dark.  Another  person wanted to know why your talent couldn’t lead to enlightenment.

So, let me throw this out to you. When you follow your talent, your dreams, your goals, is it an easy path? Do you met only people that support you, buy your products and services the day they meet you, give you standing ovations? Or do you have people that say you’re never going to make it, mess up a project you are working on, make a mistake in your business? What about self doubt? Those voices in your head? Excuses as to why you can’t?

I don’t think there is anything in this world that can be accomplished without some kind of challenge. Those challenges might seem dark, heavy, scary. You have to master them and your fears. To go past the darkness that your dreams and talent lead you to. Go past and truly fulfill your passions.
