A Day Of Remembrance

First I will start off with giving credit to Days-photographic on Society6 for the art piece above titled “Remembrance.” It is amazing that 15 years have gone by since the attacks on September 11th. I know that some people want to move on, they have heard enough of the “never forget.” For me, it is a day I will not forget. I remember what I was doing, who I was with. How lucky I was that my family, friends and their families were safe. I also realize that my children will not remember. They were only two and four at the time. One year, my daughter had a project in school when she had to recant what she was doing that day, the teacher didn’t even realize that her students were only babes at the time. We can’t stay stuck in the past, but move on. Pass down the history, the stories, remind people because – unfortunately – history has a way of repeating itself.

For myself, I take a little quiet time for mediation/prayer/thanksgiving. My husband and I usually share some small memories of the day. A time to empty ourselves, then fill with grace and hope.
