Custom piece honoring the family.

This is a very special piece I have been working on. Each piece is made of a mixed media paper. What looks like white scratches are actually words.

Each heart represents a family member’s birthday which has been hand sewn onto the purple background paper. (Purple is the mom’s favorite color.) Then written around the hearts are words that describe family in both English and German, honoring their ancestors. It also nods to the infinity symbols creating by the wording around the hearts – forever family. I was told the family that received it loves it. That makes my heart happy.
